Her Royal Highness’s Dedication to Cancer Patients 

During the long reign of HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, one of the main concerns for his people during his dedicated hard work is “issues of public health” and he believed that these matters should be adjusted. Professor Dr. HRH Princess Chulabhorn follows the footsteps of HM King Bhumibo lAdulyadej and HM Queen Sirikit and has regularly visited people of Thailand in various provinces and isolated rural areas with poor sanitation ever since she was young. Therefore, Her Royal Highness realizes the distresses and difficulties that her people are facing, particularly health-related problems.

Her Royal Highnessis determined to help the underprivileged, especially patients suffering from cancer, the number one cause of death in Thailand. The “Chulabhorn Cancer Centre” was establishedin 2004 to commemorate the auspicious 72^nd Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. The objective was to create an institution of academic excellence that can help train medical personnel to provide effective cancer treatment comparable to developed countries, with the principal aim of giving patients opportunity to become cured of cancer and improving the quality of life of patients. Under the gracious guidance of Her Royal Highness, the operation of Chulabhorn Cancer Centre was continuously improved and advanced to the point that it became a comprehensive cancer hospital. The Centre was subsequently bestowed upon a new name as “Chulabhorn Hospital” and was inaugurated by Her Royal Highness on October 29, 2009

The expansion of the hospital not only supports cancer care, but also covers a spectrum of illnesses. Another important reason is I would like the expansion of this hospital to commemorate the 90^th Birthday Anniversary of my father, HM King BhumibolAdulyadej in 2016. I hope everyone will make the contributions and make my dream come true...”

Her Royal Highness’s Aspiration Towards a New Medical College

Following Chulabhorn Hospital, a new Chulabhorn Royal Academy was additionally established in 2016. Her Royal Highnessintended to have this establishment to commemorate the 90^th Birthday Anniversary of HM King BhumibolAdulyadej. According to the act of Chulabhorn Royal Academy in 2016, Chulabhorn Royal Academy includes HRH Princess Chulabhorn College of Medical Science and Chulabhorn Graduate Institute with Professor Dr. HRH Princess Chulabhorn as the President of Chulabhorn Royal Academy.

Chulabhorn Royal Academy is an educational institute that aims to produce scholars and professionals in medicine, nursing, public health, environmental toxicology, science and technology. Moreover, one important mission is to discover new knowledge through scientific and medical research and to apply them to improve Thailand’s health care for the benefits of Thai people. It is Professor Dr. HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s determination to carry out the Late King BhumibolAdulyadej’s wishes that all individuals in Thailand will have an improved health and better quality of life.
